Books have delighted me since childhood, and the excitement I feel about going somewhere — almost anywhere — has always been part of who I am.
Bringing adventurous travel and literary discovery together feels natural. I laugh often, love trying new foods, and will take on nearly any challenge if there is something beautiful, surprising, or unseen on the other side.
I’m optimistic by nature and make friends far and wide. I also confess to an enduring affection for beauty, fashion, and an excellent pair of shoes. Girl in a Bookstore makes room for all of it: the intellect and the instinct, the well-planned itinerary and the happy detour.

My background is in journalism and writing. I earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in writing from Johns Hopkins University. I also studied at Georgetown University Law Center before deciding that the life I wanted to write was elsewhere.
